Haindl Tarot

The colours in this deck are very natural and the images look almost as if they have been painted on stone, yet the cards are vibrant and lively. The deck reflects a reverence for nature and draws on the traditions and rich symbolism of various cultures to convey meaning. The minors in particular have been structured in an interesting way: Swords represent air, the south and Egypt; wands are fire, the east and India; cups are water, the north and Europe; while stones are earth, the west and America. The images also include associations for astrology, the kabala, i-ching and runes, making this the ideal deck for someone wishing to go deeper in their readings.

Also available are the companion books the Haindl Tarot : Major Arcana and the Haindl Tarot : Minor Arcana.

Majors: Traditional naming except XIV Alchemy (Temperance), XX Aeon (Judgement), and XXI the Universe (the World); Strength is VIII, Justice XI

[29/03/2009] Archer's Review
My favourite deck of all time. The Haindl gives deeply meaningful readings and isn't as difficult to read as you might think. If you're looking for a good study deck to get your teeth into, it's ideal - I've been studying it for over two years and am nowhere near done yet. Two things you should try if you get this deck: 1) Cut the borders off. 2) Use it under artificial light - it brings out colours you had no idea were there!
