| My response to this deck is ambivalent. Like Michaela, I have difficulty in feeling a strong connection with computer generated images. Much as I love the companion book, I have the same difficulty with the computer graphics and photographs in the highly popular Sacred Circle Tarot. I don’t like children’s picture books which use computer graphics and photographs either. It’s very much a matter of personal taste. On a positive note, I love the vibrant colouring in these cards. This is certainly an excellent deck for anyone fairly new to tarot, and anyone already familiar with the Waite-Smith deck, will find this deck extremely easy to read, making it a good second deck if you started with the Waite-Smith deck. Barbara Moore has written the companion book, and her insights are always excellent. Although the artwork is visually attractive, and the ornate gold fretwork throughout the cups suit is by far the most beautiful I’ve seen in any deck, I have been disappointed when using this deck that the images, for me, have not presented those other layers of meaning that those decks I continue to love always provide, that open invitation to one’s intuitive self to read the cards in surprising new ways. If you love the images you’ve seen of this deck, you’ll probably find this is a deck that you’ll really enjoy owning. |
